Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Monica Agarwal is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute for Policy Research at Northwestern University. She is an economist and her research with EC*REACH focuses on studying the impact of Universal Pre-Kindergarten expansion in Chicago Public Schools on children’s educational outcomes. More broadly, her research focuses on topics in the economics of education, development economics and applied microeconomics. Her ongoing projects include examining the causal effect of policy reforms in early childhood education in India, the role of school quality in shaping children’s educational outcomes, understanding how parents allocate educational investments across their children, and designing optimal school choice mechanisms that take into account spatial inequalities in access to quality schooling. She obtained her PhD from the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, in 2024.
